Heather LeBlanc is the director and head teacher at Shining Stars Performing Arts.
Starting ballet at the age of three, Heather immediately fell in love with dance. She began training in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, vocals and acting. She has had the opportunity to train and conduct workshops with The National Ballet School, Disney choreographers and dance authority Shawn Byfield. She completed her Triple Threat Training Program (vocals, dance and acting) and followed that with performances in touring productions of “Our” Moulin Rouge and 42nd Street. She then went on to complete her Associate’s diploma in Tap, Jazz and Ballet, qualifying her as a dance instructor with the British Association of Teachers in Dancing. She graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor’s of Arts (Honours) in Contemporary Studies and from Nipissing University with her Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior).
Heather has taught it all--from adult classes, to children and caregiver classes, and from recreational level classes to competitive level classes. She has taught in studios and with theatre companies all over Ontario. She also pioneered a program that connected the YMCA of Kingston and the Limestone District School Board to improve dance instruction in schools and helped train teachers on the dance portion of the Health and Physical Education Curriculum. She has taught dance and healthy living programs to school children from Kindergarten to grade 8, while taking the lead in building programs and rubrics for teachers to build into their curriculum. Most recently, Heather took the lead in choreographing and directing productions of All Shook Up, and Seussical the Musical as well final dance productions for all year long and camp level dance classes with the Canadian Children’s Theatre Company.
She is excited to combine her knowledge and passion for both performing arts and teaching at Shining Stars Performing Arts!
